Title: Buyer Intern (Data-Analytical Focused) #763674 Location: Dalian Descriptions: Monitor, plan/forecast, and purchase Inventory: Coordinates purchasing activities with business partners and customers to plan, schedule and monitor the acquisition of materials to meet the production or consumption cycle requirements. Forecasts and maintains inventory at planned levels for production. Purchases inventory or materials, components, equipment, and /or services for delivery at a specified time and location in a cost effective and timely manner. Data Entry: Process purchase requisitions, place purchase orders, process purchase change orders, enter part setup & parameter data, and request supplier quotes. Utilize inventory reports, error reports, and part number / supplier information to maintain & monitor part setup parameters, and to maintain supplier database information. Problem Solving: Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions and performs reconciliation with supplier to ensure correct consumption versus payment is achieved. Resolves discrepancies and problems with inventory, production schedules, or materials shortages and implements procedures to avoid future problems. Escalates quality issues with suppliers and QA for resolution. Negotiates with Suppliers to accelerate or delay delivery to meet production or consumption requirements, remove EOL or excess inventory liabilities. Non Contracted Sourcing: For acquisition of non-contracted materials, components, equipment and/or services performs analysis of purchasing needs, including analysis of costs and performance. Identifies and develops new supply sources where required. Gathers and evaluates vendor quotes and services, evaluates bids and determines most desirable suppliers. Negotiates pricing, discounts, and places purchase orders for same. Manages delivery, monitors and maintains relationships with suppliers. Other: May recommend to Commodity Manager cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis, value engineering, design for cost initiatives, alternative sourcing and vendor evaluation criteria. Supports commodity deliverables to assure cost, quality, availability and time to market objectives are met. Qualifications: Candidate should possess a Bachelor's or a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering / Statistics or a strong analytical background from Business Administration with emphasis in Supply Chain and/or Operations Management, Purchasing, Finance or related fields - Strong communication skills (spoken and written) with both English and/or Chinese fluency and comprehension - Good problem solving skills, analytical ability, time management capability and project management competence - Ability to work well as a member of a team and a quick learner - Ability to execute tasks and projects under minimal supervision - Working knowledge of MRP* and/or SAP* - Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills - Proficiency in Outlook*, Excel*, Word*, Access*, and PowerPoint* - Good project management skills - Strong stakeholder management capacity - Ability to work effectively to lead a team - Ability to make decisions quickly and accurately - Ability to prioritize tasks and manage in a resource constraint environment
